Fabric and finish
The Maroon Aura Abaya is made in luxury flowy crepe, cut and finished by karigars in our Multan workshop. Both fabrics we use are opaque by design, so coverage never depends on what you wear underneath, and both come back from a wash without needing to be fought with an iron.
Maroon Aura is a deep, blue-leaning maroon rather than a bright wine, and the umbrella flare is what makes it work. Because the fabric gathers, the colour is never one flat block: the raised folds read a shade lighter and the hollows go almost black, so the piece has depth on a plain wall in a way a flat red never does. In daylight the blue undertone shows and it looks properly deep. Under the warm light most Pakistani function halls use, it opens up and the red comes forward. This is the shaadi-season shade of the five. It is the one people order for a nikkah they are attending rather than hosting, for a walima, and for the run of December weddings when black feels too severe and pastel feels too light. It carries gold jewellery better than any other shade we make, and it takes a plain black or matching maroon hijab. Avoid pairing it with a second strong red, since two reds almost never agree unless they are the same dye lot.
